In general, I am an inherently negative person. I think that I can point to several reasons for why I am so negative (e.g., pride, sin nature, and other unnamed reasons), but I want to start working on this problem. This week, I am going to work on being more of an encourager. I don’t want to find fault in everything. I want to build people up, not tear them down.
My actionable step for this week is to set an iCal alert to remind me to encourage someone (out of the blue) in some way each week. Typically, this will be a quick email or written note. My hope is that as I start thinking of people to encourage, I will get into the habit of regularly encouraging others.
Next week is Week 5, so look for a bigger, sweeping change for the month. Peace.
