Week 6 - Plant an Organic Garden

Lauren and I have wanted to do a garden for a long time, and we decided to bite the bullet. This week, my change is to start gardening.  Yeah, I know, when did I grow up?

Growing up, my dad always had a great garden.  One of our family traditions is to eat meals of just fresh tomato and corn.  My dad is so particular about eating the fresh corn, that he would have the water boiling on the stove before the corn was picked.  Literally, we would eat corn that was picked less than 15 minutes prior.  It was good stuff.

So, it is my turn to pick up the family tradition and start a garden.  We are particularly interested in using no chemicals and making it a completely organic garden.  I am doing a simple raised bed, bringing in good soil, and using a layer of mulch to allow for less watering.  I really don’t know what I am getting into, but I am excited.
